INCREASE IN THE USE OF ACHILLES JQS IN Q1 2005
In Q1 2005 the amount of searches
done by the users of the system was more doubled compared to
the same quarter last year. This is a part of a positive development
over the last few years.
The statistics over
the years show an increase in the use of the system. The total
increase was 23% from 2003 to 2004.

The
chairman of the Achilles JQS Steering committee, Mr
Anders Haugen, Procurement Manager ENI Norge AS, comments:
“this proves that the system is being used
and developed in the right direction as a valuable tool
for the oil industry supply chain. Suppliers who are
still of the impression that the system is not used,
should really consider qualifying their business.”

NEWS FROM THE HSE GROUP
New chairman
Mr Inge Sirevåg, HSEQ manager at VetcoAibel, have succeeded
Mr Bjørn Åge Gjerde, chairman of the group Total
AS. Inge has got a long track record in the oil industry and
has a great engagement and commitment to the HSEQ profession.
Non duplication on
information
One of the decisions made by the HSE group is that in a bid
situation they do not ask the supplier HSEQ related questions
as it is already in the Achilles JQS. The supplier can inform
the buyer of their Achilles JQS ID number which gives the buyer
access to their information in JQS. If necessary, the buyer
can ask for additional information from the supplier.
Audits
The use of the Audit module in the
Achilles JQS, where the operators and main contractors informs
on planned and undertaken audits towards the suppliers, is increasing
in the numbers of registrations. Some of the operators/main
contractors have started an internal processes where the goal
is greater focus on this subject.
The principal is that if an operator/main
contractor has undertaken an audit against a supplier, the information
such as when the audit was carried out, who was responsible
and the type of audit are registered in the Achilles Audit module.
Buyers/HSE personnel from other operators (main contractors)
can then contact the operator responsible and get access to
the audit report.

Interview with
the new chairman of the HSEQ group
Mr Inge Sirevåg is the Manager of Location HSEQ
for VetcoAibels Greater Ekofisk Modifications Project.
Inge has a MSc degree and has been working in the oil
industry since 1977. He has worked on most of the big
projects in the North Sea and has also engagement in
the development of the HSEQ profession. He was a member
of the NORSOK committee which developed the revision
of the NORSOK S-006 standard.
He points out that
some of the modules of the Achilles JQS are of great
value for the HSEQ community, for example the Audit
module. “This is a great method of sharing
audit information between the companies. Both for planned
and undertaken audits. This will be a resource saver
for both HSEQ people representing the buyer and for
the suppliers”.
|
He
finishes with an appeal to the operators who have not yet joined
the HSE committee: “This is a forum where we influence
the development and tie a closer network between the HSEQ and
the buyer communities.”

Achilles`Supplier
Service
Due to several reasons we often experience that too many
suppliers do not comply with the deadlines for their annual
update, and that new suppliers often need help in the qualification
process. When the energy companies make a search for possible
suppliers in the database, suppliers that are not qualified
will not appear and subsequently not be able to participate
in a tender.
|
Achilles has for a long time taken steps
where we closely follow-up the suppliers in order to help them
gain qualification. The result has been good and the feedback
from the suppliers is positive. In addition it is gratifying
to observe that a number of qualified suppliers in the database
have increased.
We would also like to make the buyers
aware of the functionality in the search programme where you
can invite suppliers that you can’t find in the Sellihca
database. A message will at the same time automatically be sent
to Achilles. We gladly offer to help the supplier in question
in the registration and qualification process. Please do not
hesitate to contact us if you need any help with the above.
Premium Service
For buyers that
use Achilles we also offer help to find new suppliers.
This is done by combining the Achilles`supplier information
together with good knowledge about the industrial sectors.
A lot of Achilles` customers use this service today.
